The Cipha Sounds Effect is Shade 45's morning show: it is uncensored radio with a provocative crew. Cipha Sounds, Angela Yee, The Emoticon and DJ Wonder specialize in a brand of entertainment that they like to call "Intelligent Ignorance". Rather than go over your heads or talk down to you, they smack you right in the kisser
with unforgiving humor and wit. Wake up!
that's what's up

Can't get enough of co-host Angela Yee? Check out her Lip Service - the show she co-hosts Monday nights at 8 pm ET with XXL magazine's Leah Rose.

My Friend Wants to Know...
Co-host Angela Yee gives relationship advice that you might regret ever hearing.

Angela:
My friend wants to know: If you let a guy buy you drinks at a club, does that mean you're obligated to dance with him or talk to him? We were in Vegas and some guy bought my friend drinks and then wouldn't go away. When she tried to duck him, he asked for his $20 back!

Anytime you do a good deed – like, say, buy a thirsty girl a drink at the club - you should never expect to get something in return. If you do, that's great. But anyone who thinks that spending twenty bucks means you rented a date for the night and entitles you to a phone number doesn't even deserve a conversation. That's why guys go to strip clubs: you pay for girls to be interested in you while you're there. In the real world, it's not so easy. You actually have to be somewhat charming and attractive.

TAKING PICTURES

What are you supposed to do when someone posts a picture of you on a social networking site and you want them to take it down but they won't?

This has been an issue that has come up with several of my friends. One young lady took a picture at a club, while she was drunk, and she happened to be hugging and kissing a guy who wasn't her boyfriend. The guy posted the picture on his page and of course, now she’s in trouble with her boyfriend.

Another person I know applied for a job with a non-profit agency and got a job offer, but then the recruiter saw a picture of him on a social networking site: in the picture, he was drinking from a bottle of patron with a girl on his lap. They had to reneg the offer. The picture wasn't even on his page, but a page that belonged to one of his friends.

Social networking sites allow people to monitor and even stalk you. If you apply for a job, and your profile headline is "I'm the realest b**** out!" then it could sway an employer's decision on whether or not you are right for the position. In certain professions, like teaching, you can't post pictures where you are drinking or getting loose because your students will definitely find them.

What's the solution? Probably avoiding the problem: perhaps you shouldn't take any pictures that could get you in any trouble or prohibit you from getting a job. If you have any doubt about it, don't do it! Thank goodness this doesn't affect me at all - phew!

The Emoticon's Weird Science
Our resident techie explains the gadgets and issues in a down to earth language that ya’ll can easily understand.

I-CARAMBA!

Would I be rubbing it in if I said "I told you so"? Well label my words Icy Hot snitches because I told you so. A few months ago I cautioned all the early adopters from sinking $600 plus on a device that WILL have bugs, WILL become obsolete with the second generation and WILL have a price decrease within the year. Apple recently announced that it was slashing a third off of the retail price of the iPhone, thus making my words prophetic (well, almost- there is still no word on the new iPhone yet but believe me - it's coming).

Pretty bad news for all the people that camped outside to spend $200 more on a device that is now amply available at a lot of locations. For those of us not soured by the iPhone mess Apple released of plethora of beauties.

In addition to launching the iPod Touch - a slimmed down version of the iPhone minus the phone capabilities, they introduced us to the newly redesigned iPod Nano, the Bono- inspired (Product) Red iPod Shuffle, and the 80GB and 160GB iPod Classic (who carries around 160GB of music!?). The new Nano is the Serena to the old Nano's Venus. It's shorter and stockier than its older sibling but packed with more features and you're probably gonna stare at it (it plays videos).

Apple also launched its new iTunes ring tone service which allows you to virtually turn any song in the iTunes Library into a ring tone and download it to your iPhone. Both users of the iPhone and the iPod Touch (the only two "i" products with Wifi) will find a cool or annoying (depending on how much u like Muzak) new feature when they walk into their local Starbucks. Due to an exclusive deal between the two companies when you walk into a Starbucks, any song that you hear while getting your overpriced cup of joe, you will automatically be able to purchase via iTunes right from your device.

I was gonna give Steve Jobs props for all the new ish, but then Ang made a very interesting point - It's really just the same ish repackaged!

Here's to innovation!
