Meredith Ochs Meredith | email

Smart, sassy and siren-voiced, Meredith Ochs brings a decade of music journalism and radio commentary to Outlaw Country. She’s written for Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and Salon.com, among numerous other publications. She’s also a talking head on NPR, where she shares her opinions on music, books and pop culture with the nation. A long-time contributing editor and writer for Guitar World magazine, Ochs covered the Outlaw Country beat, reporting on artists like Merle Haggard, Steve Earle, Ryan Adams, Kelly Willis and Son Volt. Oh, and she slings a mean Telecaster for the Damn Lovelys.

Mojo Nixon Mojo Nixon | email
Weekdays 4 pm – 8 pm ET

When asked about the “perfect song,” Mojo cites “Tie My Pecker To My Leg.” Who sings that one? “I do!” That’s the kind of guy he is. When asked about what the music he gets to play on Outlaw Country means to him, he replies, “The heart and soul of the hillbilly subconscious buckdance-arama-dirtfloor deliverance–manifold destiny-forication nation.” We’re not sure what that’s all about, either but it has a great ring to it. Seriously, Mojo what do you dig about our slice of the airwaves? “I love it –no commercials – no censorhip - one great song after another.”

Dallas Wayne Dallas Wayne | email
Weekdays 10 am- 2 pm ET
Saturdays 11 pm-2 am ET

Singer/songwriter Dallas Wayne was wandering around our offices in 2005, when he asked, “Whose leg do you gotta hump to get a job ‘round these parts?” Someone pointed to the offices of Little Steven Van Zandt and DJ RigRocker. His career at Outlaw Country started right there! “I feel so very much at home in Outlaw Country. In fact, I do my show from my home outside of Austin. This is a dream come true, I’ve always wanted a job I could do in my underwear without a pole being involved. But, you're welcome to drop by Staley Wayne Manor and stick a dollar in my garter anytime!”

Fred Imus Fred Imus | email

Sundays 10 am - 2 pm ET

If you like your country Southern fried in a doublewide, try Fred's Trailer Park Bash.

Hillbilly Jim Hillbilly Jim | email
Saturdays 10 am – 2 pm ET
Sundays 2 pm – 6 pm ET

Former WWE superstar Hillbilly Jim, who rassled alongside such lords of the ring as Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant and Big John Studd, has set up a white lightnin’ still high up on a ridge in Mudlick, Ky., where he and his good for nothing Cousin Spike serve up 200 proof down home country and southern-fried rock & roll every weekend. Tune in for tales from the top rope, along with the "Woods & Water Report" from Uncle Percy Mandoberg, and take a taste of Mountain Dew so strong that it will make your eyes bug out and your face turn blue.

Cowboy Jack Clement Cowboy Jack Clement | email
Saturdays 2 pm – 6 pm ET
Sundays 6 pm – 10 pm ET

To say that Outlaw Country is proud to have Cowboy Jack Clement on weekends would be something of an understatement: the man has produced records for Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins back when they all recorded for Sun Records! He’s written some stone cold classics, including “Ballad Of A Teenage Queen,” “Guess Things Happen That Way” and “Dirty Ol’ Egg Sucking Dog,” among many others. He’s a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, and he probably should be in a bunch of others.

Shooter Jennings Shooter Jennings | email
Saturdays 6 pm – 8 pm ET
Sundays 10 pm – Midnight ET

He is the son of legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, and his debut album – released in 2005 – was called Put The “O” Back In Country... so the guy’s a natural to be DJing on Outlaw Country. His favorite thing about his radio gig? “No boundaries.” And he means it – you might hear anything from Gram Parsons to Jimi Hendrix during his shift. It’s country, but it ain’t pretty, and he doesn’t color between the lines.

Steve Earle Steve Earle | email
Saturdays 9 pm ET
Rebroadcast: Sundays 9 am ET and Mondays 1 am ET.

The last of the hardcore troubadours, Steve Earle is a certified outlaw whose personal odyssey has taken him from the streets of San Antonio to the top of the country charts to a Nashville jail cell to acclaim as an author/playwright and a recurring role on The Wire on HBO. Along the way he's collected a Grammy® Award and written many timeless tunes, and he'll be shooting from the hip on this one-hour weekly showcase for his hand-picked songs and songwriters, along with road stories and occasional guests.

Johnny Knoxville & Roger Alan Wade Johnny Knoxville & Roger Alan Wade
Whoop it up with Jackass star Johnny Knoxville from the Hollywood hills and his first cousin—musical misfit Roger Alan Wade—in Chattanooga, TN, on this weekly trans-continental hoedown. It's one hell raisin' hour of hot pickin', finger sniffin', frog stickin' Outlaw mayhem.

Created by “Little Steven” Van Zandt, Outlaw Country is a sanctuary for the freaks, misfits, outcasts, rebels, and renegades of country music, along with brash and outspoken on-air personalities.
