Sirius strikes new streaming deal with Sonos
Monsters and Critics.com
New York-based Sirius Satellite Radio has this week revealed a new content streaming deal that it’s struck with California-based Sonos to bring "The Best Radio on the Internet" into the digital home via the award-winning Sonos Digital Music System.

Sonos, which is described as "the leading developer of wireless multi-room music systems" has partnered with Sirius Satellite Radio to mark the release of Sonos System Software v2.3, which will wirelessly deliver Sirius broadcasts "all over the house" and provide subscribers with instant palm-based control.

By simply connecting the Sonos Digital Music System to their broadband connections, Sirius subscribers will instantly receive an easy and convenient way to enjoy more than 80 of their favourite Sirius music, talk, and sports broadcasts no matter which room of the house they happen to be in.

Beyond the obvious attraction of a wealth of completely commercial-free music channels, subscribers will also gain house-wide access to notable shows such as Howard Stern, Martha Stewart Living Radio, Playboy Radio, Maxim Radio, Sirius Football Radio, various comedy channels, and many more.

Thanks to a direct connection to Sirius Internet Radio, Sonos users duly forego the need for line-of-sight delivery, an antenna, satellite radio equipment, or even personal computer hardware, which gives Sirius subscribers first-time access to wholly flexible, PC-free, broadband broadcasting – outside of their cars. Plus, armed with the handy Sonos Controller, users can enjoy the wireless radio content anywhere in the house – up to 32 rooms.

"Working with innovators such as Sonos is important to our ongoing strategy of delivering our content beyond the car," said Mel Karmazin, Chief Executive Officer of Sirius. "We are determined to provide our subscribers with compelling and easy-to-use solutions to access our content anywhere they go, including anywhere in their home."

Existing Sirius Satellite Radio subscribers can receive premium Sonos-delivered Sirius Internet Radio for a mere $2.99 USD per month upgrade fee. Those without a current subscription but looking to welcome Sirius Internet Radio and Sonos into their homes can do so for $12.95 USD per month.
